Mario Dávalos
Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Mario is founder and CEO of Capital DBG, one of the largest and more important advertising agencies in the country. He was appointed CEO of Havas Worldwide Caribbean in January 2011, after consulting for the agency the previous year.
Prior to this, Mario was founder and Creative Director of a Shampoo Communications, a local agency and previously of Cumbre Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi. He was responsible of launching Verizon (2004) and AB-Inbev (2005) in the country.
Marios background in art, photography and literature has proven to be essential in his views and understanding of visual culture applied to advertising and marketing. As an entrepreneur he has excelled also founding District & Co., a contemporary art gallery as well as consulting for several NGOs such as Grupo Jaragua, becoming an important liaison between the group and the private sector.
His career in marketing spans 15 years and includes hands-on experience in almost every marketing discipline and across multiple product and service categories. Outside of work, Mario spends most of his time traveling the world and photographing nature.
Mario was elected president of LIDAP (Liga Dominicana de Agencias Publicitarias, currently ADECC) from 2012 to 2014 and has been a regular speaker at universities and design schools in the country and the US. He is the author of two short story books and a two photo books. He has also published some of his writings in the New York Times, Diario Libre and El Caribe. His photos have been published in Outdoor Photographer Magazine, Wildlife Photographic Magazine and Discover Wildlife by BBC.
He is a graduate of Parson the New School of Design is married with three children.
