The Redsecker Response Fund

The Redsecker Response Fund honors long-time iLCP board member and Chair, Buffy Redsecker, for her support of professional photographers and their important work creating images to inspire positive conservation action.

Buffy’s seven-year term on the board ends this month, and we want to show our appreciation for her enthusiastic support of conservation photography through a fund that will allow iLCP Fellows to pursue a Rapid Response Conservation Project that will address a time-sensitive conservation issue.

If you too want to support such critical work  you can donate in honor of Buffy!

Donations may be sent to iLCP, 4600 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 202, Arlington, VA  22203 (please make checks out to “iLCP” and note on the check that this is for “The Redsecker Response Fund”) or online.

Buffy is the President and Co-Founder of the SunLight Time Foundation, whose mission is “to support disruptive and creative approaches to traditional problems with an emphasis in planetary health.” She  is also a proud member of the Pleiades Network: a constellation of women working for a sustainable world. She has spent over a decade deeply involved with the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador and consults for many organizations there. In 2009 Buffy published a photography book on the life of Galapaguenos. Buffy is deeply committed to the work of WildAid and the African Wildlife Foundation.

Buffy grew up on an estuary off the Chesapeake Bay and has spent much of her adult life diving and snorkeling the waters off the lower Florida Keys. She was a field producer and natural history guide for a story in the National Geographic Magazine on the Goliath Grouper. Buffy collaborated on the harp seal segment, of a National Geographic story on the Gulf of St. Lawrence & used her field experience, and local knowledge to scout a story for the magazine on Sargassum.

iLCP has benefited greatly from Buffy’s professional expertise and  her deep passion for conservation. She has been a champion of conservation photographers and iLCP is grateful for her dedication.

In a profession/calling where it seems we are always trying to prove or explain the worth of what we do, Buffy’s voice within the iLCP and her unwavering support for the work of Fellows, has been a profound gift. Thank you Buffy for all your efforts and energies! – Krista Schlyer: Senior Fellow

Buffy, without you and your time, energy and financial commitment to iLCP we would not be here — literally.  You have asked me to assume many roles beyond being just a Fellow on the Board, and I have been honored to do so.  Thank you for giving me an opportunity to serve iLCP and thank you for supporting the organization so enthusiastically. – Connie Bransilver: Senior Founding Fellow
