iLCP at International Conservation Caucus Foundation Oceans Gala
Mark Christmas and Tom Skeele recently had dinner with three iLCP Board members: Wolcott Henry, Shari Sant Plummer and Kathy Moran. Also in attendance were actor Robert Duvall, Senator John Kerry, actress Bo Derek, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Former Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt, Mexican President Felipe Calderón and close to 600 other people interested in the launch of the Oceans Caucus Foundation.
The Oceans Caucus Foundation is a new initiative of the International Conservation Caucus Foundation (ICCF), whose overarching purpose is to achieve global conservation solutions by uniting corporate leaders, NGOs and policymakers. The Oceans Caucus Foundation has assembled a powerful collaboration of public and private sector organizations to inform U.S. and international policymakers about issues of ocean conservation worldwide. Clearly, there are some influential people involved in this effort.
ICCF asked iLCP to provide our images and expertise throughout the 2012 Oceans Gala. For starters, Mark Christmas served as an advisor for Gala publications leading up to the event, and the producer for the live event. Key to this effort was iLCP’s Meghan Lamb who managed all iLCP images that were used in the event. Two large screens projected images from the recent iLCP publication, Oceans: Heart of Our Blue Planet, throughout the event. Images were also used in the event program, an associated series of postcards, and ICCF’s 2012 Partners in Conservation publications. These images reached the nearly 600 influential guests, including members of Congress, foreign governments, international NGOs, and the philanthropic community.
Meanwhile, the ICCF is using a series of iLCP photographs on its Oceans Caucus Foundation website. Finally, iLCP collaborated with ICCF to delivery a copy of our 2011 book Oceans: Heart of Our Blue Planet to every member of the U.S. Congress: 537 policymakers in all.
iLCP is proud to work with some of the world’s most influential conservation photographers to educate and inform policymakers around the globe about the ecological, economic and social importance of our planet’s oceans.
