Trudeau cabinet rejects Northern Gateway pipeline
“This is a big deal. The RAVE (Great Bear Rainforest) that Pacific Wild and iLCP carried out in 2010 to bring attention to the Enbridge pipeline issue and the impact that oil tankers would bring to the Great Bear Rainforest culminated in this major victory of a formal declaration of the Canadian federal government to enact a legislated oil tanker ban.
The only caveat is that this tanker ban is only for the Great Bear Rainforest region and that Prime Minister Trudeau announced at the same time approval of the Kinder Morgan pipeline that would carry Alberta tar sands to the south of BC. – Ian McAllister, Associate Fellow”
